Silkeborg is highly placed on the map of elitist sports within various sports. This is not least due to the fact that business and athletic activities have joined together in a profitable cooperation. As Silkeborg IF’s sports manager Ebbe Sand puts it: 'We are each other’s fellow players. Given its position in Danish football, SIF is very important to the Silkeborg Region and its companies. Conversely, SIF and top football could simply not exist without them'.
SIF FODBOLD SUPPORT A/S cooperates with 225 partners and sponsors, which provide the financial base of professional football in Silkeborg. Their companies are exposed through football and the massive press coverage.
There is also a solid interaction between business and elitists sports when it comes to handball. Hence, in a short time a large business network, headed by Jyske Bank and Grundfos, has been set up to support Silkeborg’s local handball league team BSV. In record speed Team Designa Køkken has also managed to expose themselves within both cycling and motor sport as well as football and handball.
